Hometown Child Care & Learning Center was established in 2005, by Joy Macarus. Joy, a mother of four and an entrepreneur at heart wanted to offer a child care center in the Hometown neighborhood that provided a safe, nurturing, and fun learning environment for children and families in the Aurora area. Today, Hometown Child Care has grown to three centers and offers the highest quality of early childhood programs throughout the Western Suburbs. Our teachers and employees are experienced, loving, and dedicated to the needs of your family. Hometown’s “family team” is dedicated to the children and families and the majority of them have been with the company from the beginning.
We strive to instill in each child a desire for lifelong learning by the Learn Through Play Philosophy. We believe the first five years of childhood are the most important in development and learning thus children have the right to be recognized as constructors of their own experiences. Each child is encouraged to explore and discover at his or her own pace. Our preschool and pre-kindergarten curriculum are designed to help children reach their fullest potential while enjoying themselves in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
The term “emergent curriculum” would be used to describe our program. Rooted in the work of noted early childhood theorists like Dewey, Piaget, and Vygotsky, we offer an emergent curriculum defined as a process where teachers plan activities and projects based on the specific group of children they are working with. We take into account their skills, needs, and interests. Through this approach, teachers gain a greater understanding of each child’s individual needs, allowing for thoughtful and individualized lessons and activities.
